Welcome to Kindred Spirits Rescue!!!
This is our first year of participation in Give to The Max and we are beyond excited to share with you our progress so far and our 2025 goals.
As two kindred spirits, Hailey and Theresa felt a calling to expand their humane society volunteer work into a rescue that could offer individual love and care to felines of all ages. In our local communities, kitties from birth through weaning age needed a safe landing spot as there wasn't one available. Kindred Spirits Rescue is that landing spot.
We officially became a nonprofit organization in April of 2024 although the need for our services started once we made the announcement of our Rescue availability. Our goal for 2024 was to provide vet care, including vaccinations and spay/neuter services, to 20 felines in our local communities.
As of November 1, 2024:
😻 34 cats and kittens were rescued or born in our care, have received their needed vaccinations including rabies, have been spayed or neutered and are microchipped. Each of these fantastic felines has found their forever, loving home and are being loved and cared for as a member of someone's family.
😿 4 felines fought a good fight but were not able to overcome their illnesses and/or injuries.
😺 26 cats and kittens are currently in our foster homes. The ones that are weaned, fully vaccinated to their age , microchipped and spayed/neutered are waiting for their forever homes. The others are growing fast and gaining weight each day and will be seeking their forever homes as soon as they are ready.
Clearly we underestimated the need that is in our communities for abandoned felines of all ages. As a result, here are our goals for 2025:
😺 Provide vet care, including vaccinations and spay/neuter services to 80 felines in our local communities. Find permanent, loving homes for these cats once they are stablized.
😺 Update the building that has been offered to Kindred Spirits Rescue for rental. This building would be our office and gathering place for potential adopters to meet their new feline family members.
😺 Apply for and secure grant funding to host three low-cost spay and neuter clinics to community members. Two local veterinary clinics are working with Kindred Spirits Rescue on this endeavor.
😺 Continue to keep our cats and kitties in foster homes. Foster-home raised felines are well adjusted to the sights and sounds associated with daily living which makes their transition to their new homes easier on them.
How can you help?
😀 We invest approximately $125 in each feline for medical care, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries as well as microchipping. As some of our food including milk replacer for our babies is donated, we have not counted the food costs in this $125. With an estimated 80 cats to provide care for in 2025, we are hoping to raise $10,000 which will help us meet their medical costs. We plan for our fundraising activities to cover the cost of food and other necessities.
